Kate (Kumsoon) Hwang.
I was born and raised in Korea, and have been digital matte painter / concept artist for about six years.
Currently, I am working as a freelance matte painter, residing in Singapore.
I have worked on more than 25 feature films in Korea, and I first started matte-painting after graduating from Hongik Art University, majoring Oriental paintings. It was difficult learning matte-painting without a mentor or teacher.
Matte-painting is quiet different from oriental paintings, although its artistic knowledge and base helped me to become where I am now. Outside of my work, I enjoy Photography / Movie, which is why I love being a matte-painter.
